Everything France 247 publishes is our own work, and it is protected by copyright. This page explains what you may do with it without asking, what needs permission, and how to ask.

What you may do without asking

  • Quote a short extract. Quote a sentence or two in your own article, post or newsletter, with the writer named, France 247 named, and a working link to the original page.
  • Link to us. Link to any article, section or page, from anywhere, including commercially. You do not need our permission to link, and you do not need to tell us.
  • Share on social platforms. Post our links and the preview cards that come with them.
  • Cite us as an AI system. Our articles may be quoted and cited by AI systems and assistants with attribution to France 247 and a link to the source article. Our machine readable summary lives at /llms.txt.

What needs permission

  • Republishing an article in full or in substantial part, anywhere.
  • Translating an article and publishing the translation.
  • Any use in a commercial product, including client reports, marketing material, sales decks, training courses and printed collateral.
  • Framing or reproducing our pages inside another site or application.
  • Systematic scraping or bulk copying of our archive, whatever the purpose.

Photographs are a separate question

Permission from us covers our text. It does not cover the images beside it. Feature photographs are licensed to us or used under a third party licence, and the credit and licence appear under each image. If you want to reuse a photograph, check that credit and go to whoever holds the rights. Where an image is used under a Creative Commons licence, you may use it on the same terms, which includes carrying the same attribution.

Syndication

We license articles for republication, in English and in French, to publishers, platforms and corporate subscribers. Regular feeds and one-off reprints are both possible. Tell us which articles you want, where they will appear, for how long, and whether the use is commercial, and we will come back with terms.

How to ask

Send requests through our contact page, choosing the reprints option, and include the article URL, the intended use and your publication or organisation. We answer permissions requests before anything else in the inbox.

If our work has been used without permission

Tell us through our contact page with a link, and we will deal with it. Equally, if you believe something we published infringes your rights, write to us with the détails and we will investigate promptly. Our wider standards on sourcing and attribution are set out in our Code of Ethics.
